We welcome all singers who have had some experience of singing. We suggest you come along to any rehearsal (see the Rehearsals page) and sing with us for a few evenings. If you decide you would like to become a member you will be asked to do a short voice test with our conductor (see audition procedure). This is to ensure that your voice blends well within the choir and that you have the level of competency required. Regular attendance at rehearsals and concerts is expected, and members should be prepared to put in extra work between rehearsals to ensure a good standard of performance.
We ask for an annual fee to meet our basic costs and we have flexible rates depending on your circumstances.
Below are some comments from long standing members and recent recruits on their experience of being part of Reading Festival Chorus!
"RFC is an enjoyable choir to be part of - Edward's sense of humour adds a lightheartedness to the rehearsals not present in many choral societies, while still retaining a high level of musicianship and exploring technical and masterful choral works. It's done my sight-reading skills a world of good too!" - Martin Williams
"I have been a member of RFC for more years than I care to remember (38?), apart from short 'baby breaks'. I have always enjoyed my singing and have gained such a lot from being a member, both musically and socially. There have been many highlights, including visits to Dusseldorf and singing in some great venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Sheldonian and Arundel Cathedral as well as concerts with John Lill, Yehudi Menuhin and Tasmin Little." - Jane Clements
